Method: No obfuscation or stealth mode on any server, so no fallback once DPI flags it. CyberGhost told Comparitech its VPN no longer works in the UAE. Website blocked on both major UAE ISPs (OONI through late July 2026; Etisalat consumer probes appear as AS5384, not the AS8961 previously filed).

What we're seeing

CyberGhost itself told Comparitech, in an article updated January 31, 2026, that its VPN no longer works in the UAE, and there is no obfuscation mode to fall back on. OONI measurements from July 2026 show www.cyberghostvpn.com blocked on both Etisalat (0 OK, 7 anomalies) and du (0 OK, 2 anomalies), with only cloud networks reaching it. An in-country test run between December 2025 and March 2026 on Etisalat and du connected only about 60 percent of the time, still had VoIP calls detected, and recommended against using it in the UAE. The 60 percent figure alone would read as degraded; the vendor's own admission plus zero positive reports since tips this to blocked.
