Method
CyberGhost has no obfuscation mode, so WireGuard and OpenVPN over TCP 443 are the only realistic paths. The cyberghostvpn.com website is hard-blocked on Türk Telekom (AS9121, 0 of 366 successful in July 2026) and mostly blocked on Superonline (AS34984, 1 of 36), while TurkNet (AS12735) is clean at 17 of 17. Install before arrival or use a mirror; the website block is not treated as tunnel failure on its own. CyberGhost's Turkey servers are virtual and physically hosted in Romania.

Working alternatives in Turkey

No VPN is currently verified as working in Turkey. We would rather say that than guess. Check back after the next weekly verification pass.

What we're seeing

OONI measurements from July 2026 show cyberghostvpn.com fully blocked on Türk Telekom, with zero successes in 366 measurements, and mostly blocked on Superonline at 1 of 36, while TurkNet was clean at 17 of 17. Wikipedia and Google returned 170 of 170 and 222 of 222 successes on that same Türk Telekom probe over the same window, so the block is targeted rather than a broken probe. CyberGhost has no obfuscation mode, which leaves WireGuard and OpenVPN over TCP 443 as the only settings worth trying. Its Turkey servers are virtual and physically sit in Romania.

Common questions

Is using a VPN legal in Turkey?

Yes. Using a VPN is not a crime in Turkey. The regulator BTK blocks access to many VPN providers instead, including 17 services in December 2023, so getting a VPN is harder than using one.

Do I need obfuscation to connect in Turkey?

For most providers, yes. As of July 2026, all 9 VPNs we verified in Turkey are only partially working, and each needs its obfuscated mode or a manual protocol to connect reliably on Turkish ISPs. Check the method notes on each status.

Should I set up a VPN before arriving in Turkey?

Yes. Many vendor websites are blocked by BTK, so download the app and finish signup before you arrive. App stores generally still carry the major apps.
